Is Austin still a good place to live in 2026?

Many people love it for its job market, outdoor life, food and music, and no state income tax. Buyers also have more negotiating power in 2026, with about 5.4 months of inventory metro-wide.

What is cedar fever in Austin?

Visit your top neighborhoods in person, drive your commute at rush hour, check flood maps and total tax rates, and choose an area that matches your top two must-haves.

Usually, yes. In my last 30-day MLS search, the median sale in Round Rock was $385,000, compared with a September 2026 median of $570,958 in the city of Austin.
